Bloomberg is analysing "dozens of criteria using seven equally weighted metrics, including research and development spending, manufacturing capability and concentration of high-tech public companies."

Key take away points:

  • South Korea (1), Singapore (2) and Switzerland (3) are leading the ranking
  • 7 of the top 10 countries are European
  • The United States have dropped out of the top 10
  • The gap between China and the United States has been consistantly narrowing
